Our History

 

Leonardo Baptist Church is probably one of the oldest churches in Monmouth County. The building was erected in 1883 by George B. Davis. Leonardo Baptist Church was organized on December 3, 1889, as the Atlantic Highlands Baptist Church, by 107 members from the Navesink Baptist Church who had a genuine concern for the eternal salvation and the spiritual welfare of this community.

The Church which was formerly located on Avenue D was moved to our present location
and held their first service on April 27, 1913.

The name was officially changed in July, 1928 to Leonardo Baptist Church

We are a group of born again believers on the Lord Jesus Christ, with a Biblical charge, to glorify God, to minister one to another, and to proclaim the Glorious Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ to a lost and dying world.
